Bodywork and Craniosacral Therapy at NEKAWA

Gentle, body-aware support for nervous system regulation and physical ease
Available in Whanganui and Auckland clinics

At NEKAWA, bodywork and craniosacral therapy offer a calm, respectful way to support the body’s natural capacity to regulate, release, and restore balance.

This work is not about forceful manipulation or “fixing” the body. Instead, it is a gentle, attentive approach that listens to the nervous system and supports the body to settle, soften, and reorganise in its own time.

Sessions are unhurried and tailored to the individual, creating space for both physical relief and deeper nervous system regulation.

A Body-Led, Nervous-System-Aware Approach

With a background in human biology, anatomy, and years of hands-on bodywork practice, my approach is grounded in both science and felt experience.

Craniosacral therapy and gentle bodywork work with:

  • the central nervous system

  • connective tissue and fascial patterns

  • subtle rhythms within the body

  • the body’s stress and relaxation responses

Rather than overriding symptoms, this work supports the body to come out of protective states and return towards balance.

This makes it particularly suitable for people who feel:

  • tense, overwhelmed, or “on edge”

  • disconnected from their body

  • sensitive to deep or forceful treatment

  • affected by ongoing stress or nervous system overload

What Is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment that works with the subtle movements and rhythms of the craniosacral system — which includes the skull, spine, sacrum, and surrounding tissues.

Using light, attentive touch, the practitioner supports the body to:

  • release areas of restriction

  • improve nervous system regulation

  • enhance circulation and fluid movement

  • support the body’s natural healing processes

Many people experience craniosacral therapy as deeply calming, restorative, and grounding.

How Bodywork at NEKAWA May Support You

Rather than focusing on diagnoses, this work supports the patterns and responses that sit underneath discomfort or imbalance.

Bodywork and craniosacral therapy may be supportive if you are experiencing:

  • muscular tension or physical discomfort

  • stress-related holding patterns

  • headaches or jaw tension

  • fatigue or nervous system exhaustion

  • difficulty fully relaxing or switching off

  • feeling “stuck” in your body after stress or injury

  • a desire for gentle, non-invasive body support

Sessions are adapted to what your body is communicating on the day — there is no set routine or expectation.

What to Expect in a Session

Sessions take place in a calm, supportive clinic environment.

You will remain fully clothed for craniosacral therapy and gently positioned for comfort. Touch is light, respectful, and always guided by your consent.

Some people notice physical shifts, others experience emotional release or deep relaxation. All responses are valid, and there is no need to analyse or force outcomes.

This work often complements hypnotherapy and other nervous-system-focused approaches, but can also be experienced on its own.
