About NEKAWA
A calm, grounded approach to change — led by the nervous system
NEKAWA is a holistic practice grounded in the understanding that lasting change happens when the mind, body, and nervous system are supported together.
Founded by Deb Pick, NEKAWA brings together science-informed practice, trauma-aware care, and a deep respect for the body’s innate intelligence. The work is gentle, client-led, and paced with care — supporting clarity, regulation, and meaningful internal change rather than quick fixes or surface solutions.
NEKAWA exists for people who are ready to move forward, but want to do so in a way that feels safe, respectful, and sustainable.
My background
My professional journey began in the sciences, with formal training in chemistry, human biology, and anatomy, followed by years of work in movement, bodywork, and education. I have lectured in anatomy and worked extensively with the physical body long before entering the subconscious and nervous system space.
Over time, both professional experience and personal life led me to explore how deeply the nervous system shapes our health, behaviour, performance, and sense of self. Hypnotherapy and craniosacral work became pivotal — not as techniques, but as ways of listening to the body rather than overriding it.
Today, my work blends:
-
trauma-informed hypnotherapy
-
nervous system regulation
-
body-based awareness
-
integrative, science-led understanding
This allows change to unfold from the inside out, at a pace that feels appropriate for each individual.
How NEKAWA works
NEKAWA is not a prescriptive or one-size-fits-all practice.
Rather than telling clients what to change, the work focuses on:
-
creating internal safety
-
supporting regulation and awareness
-
gently reshaping subconscious patterns
-
allowing insight and clarity to emerge naturally
Sessions are unhurried and collaborative. Some people benefit from focused, short-term work; others choose deeper or more integrative support over time. There is no pressure to commit beyond what feels right.
This approach is particularly supportive for those who:
-
feel overwhelmed or stuck despite “knowing what to do”
-
experience stress or emotional tension held in the body
-
are navigating transitions or periods of change
-
value depth, autonomy, and nervous-system-aware care
The meaning behind NEKAWA
NEKAWA reflects the essence of this work: connection, balance, and inner alignment.
The practice is built on the belief that healing and change do not need to be forced. When the body and nervous system are supported, clarity and direction often follow naturally.
NEKAWA is a space to pause, recalibrate, and move forward with greater ease — whether through hypnotherapy, body-based work, or self-guided support.
Working with me
I work with clients:
-
online via secure Zoom sessions
-
in person in Whanganui
-
and in Auckland during scheduled clinic dates
Alongside NEKAWA, I also run Elite Mindset, a separate performance-focused platform supporting athletes, professionals, and high-performing individuals. While the approaches share depth and nervous system awareness, NEKAWA remains centred on wellbeing, regulation, and internal alignment.
