ABOUT NEKAWA

‘This life is your journey. Shake off the bad, embrace the good and strive to find the excitement in the day’

Deb Pick

Welcome, I’m Deb, the founder of NEKAWA.
This space reflects my own healing journey - one that’s taken me from science-based study and working with high-performance athletes to a deeper, holistic approach grounded in presence, intuition, and trust in the body’s innate intelligence.

Originally from the UK, I’ve spent over 20 years in the health and wellness industry, both internationally and here in Aotearoa New Zealand. My qualifications include a Master’s degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor’s in Applied Science (Human Anatomy), alongside certifications in personal training, Pilates, yoga, sports massage, reflexology and remedial therapies.

I began therapeutic bodywork in 1997, and over time became drawn to more integrative approaches - supporting not just the physical body, but also the nervous system, subconscious mind and emotional wellbeing.

Body-Based Therapies

At my Auckland clinic, I offer craniosacral therapy and SomatoEmotional Release - gentle, hands-on therapies that help bring the body and mind back into balance.

Clients often seek this work to:
- Gently process and release stored tension, trauma, or emotional overwhelm
- Relieve chronic tension or pain patterns and support postural realignment after injuries or stress

I often work with those who feel they’ve “tried everything” — whether dealing with persistent pain, ongoing stress, or confusing diagnoses. This work allows the body to be heard in a gentle and supported way.

“On my first appointment Deb resolved a 20-year-old shoulder injury… I’ve never had pain since.”
“Deb did some bodywork then showed me how to move my own body… She identified my hip tension without me even mentioning it.”

These therapies help regulate the nervous system, relieve deep-held tension, and guide the body toward its natural state of ease. My approach blends anatomy-based techniques, movement science, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed care.

I am a registered member of the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners (IAHP), Massage New Zealand (MNZ), and an approved Southern Cross Easy-Claim provider.

Mind-Based Therapies

At NEKAWA, I support people navigating very real, very human experiences - stress, self-doubt, overwhelm, people-pleasing, anxiety, or feeling stuck in repeating cycles.

Using a blend of hypnotherapy, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), and mind-body techniques, I help you gently release old patterns, reconnect with clarity, and restore self-trust.

People often come to me when:
- They’re stuck in unhelpful habits or thoughts
- They feel emotionally exhausted or disconnected
- They’ve tried other methods but keep ending up in the same place
- They want to understand why they feel the way they do — and shift it

This isn’t traditional therapy. It’s relaxed, conversational, and works with your subconscious patterns in a safe and supported way.

“Deb always made me feel seen, heard, and safe… I wanted to reset my relationship with food and exercise, and I’m so excited to be on that path now.”
“Deb helped me uncover what was getting in my way. I now feel re-energised and more excited about the future than I have in years.”
“I was training hard but had lost my joy in the process… Deb helped me reconnect to my goals and belief in myself.”

For those with big dreams and high expectations — athletes, performers, entrepreneurs, and creatives — I also offer performance mindset support through my Elite Mindset program. As an approved practitioner of the globally respected The Athlete’s Secret Weapon program, I help elite thinkers develop clarity, confidence, and next-level mental strength.

Healing with Heart

These mind-body therapies are at the heart of my work, creating space for gentle yet powerful change. Whether supporting anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or the desire for deeper connection with yourself, I work in a way that honours your readiness to heal.

I’ve lectured in anatomy, health, and massage therapy, presented corporate wellness talks, and supported both high-performing individuals and those navigating everyday stress. True change doesn’t come from quick fixes — it comes from understanding, connection, and commitment to your own growth.

NEKAWA was created to support that journey — blending science, intuition, and care.

If you’re seeking nervous system regulation, trauma-informed hypnotherapy, or simply a respectful space to reconnect with yourself, I invite you to explore NEKAWA.
This is where transformation begins.
