CLINICAL HYPNOSIS

My journey with Hypnosis:

For me hypnosis is a quick method to allow people to see change and rewire their negative thoughts. My mind used to be permanently full of head talk which hindered my journey, interfered when I tried to meditate and absorbed my alone time. Hypnosis has allowed me to free myself from this negative back chat so I can cherish and focus on the moment.

I frequently use trauma informed Hypnotherapy techniques which are safe, effective and empowering. The intention is to recognise that we all have a story and maybe some ‘baggage’, that makes up our journey, but we work to release the effects of those situations and experiences that cause sensations in the body or triggers that are holding us back from thriving. The objective is not to go and revisit past traumas but instead to tune into the body and release the body’s reaction to past events that are affecting us, either consciously or unconsciously, in our everyday lives.

What is hypnosis?

Hynosis or trance is a completely natural state of the body that people go in and out of throughout the day. It is those times of day when you are ‘in flow’ / ‘in the zone’ / ‘feeling zen’ essentially when ‘time passes without thought’.

Children under the age of 7 are said to be in an almost permanent state of hypnosis which is why their imagination is so vivid during these years. It is also why these young years are so crucial to development, learning patterns and future behaviours.

History shows us that that concepts similar to modern hypnosis have been used for centuries. Then more recently and significantly was the pioneering work of Scottish neurosurgeon James Braid, in the 1840s, who used hypnosis as an anaesthetic for surgery. He used techniques to install trance into patients to alleviate pain by ‘deep relaxation and visual fixation’. https://www.tmc.edu/news/2018/03/hypnosis-operating-room/

What is a hypnotherapist?

A hypnotherapist is a person trained and experienced in using a combination of trance and therapeutic suggestions to help a client make positive changes personal to them and their journey.

Is hypnosis mind control?

No hypnosis is not mind control, you are ALWAYS in complete control. You may open your eyes, move, scratch your nose, even silence your phone and you will only make choices that you choose.

There are many videos, or you may have even experienced, Stage Hypnosis. Apart from some similarities in the process of hypnosis, this is different to clinical hypnosis. Clinical hypnosis is designed to promote positive change of beliefs, attitudes and behaviours for a client depending upon their wants and desires. Stage hypnosis is designed for comedy and please remember those on stage have volunteered themselves to be put into this position.

Client expectations:

Come with an open mind remembering that hypnosis is a natural state we experience daily and so everyone can be put into a state of hypnosis or trance. What might vary is the depth of trance and how quick a person can enter trance. Neither of these factors matter as to the effectiveness of the treatment.

Every potential client will be offered a free 15minute consultation to fully discuss any apprehensions, your wants, requirements and expectations.

Other Hypnotherapy services at Nekawa:

Coaching

This is a program in which I work with the client’s restrictions both physically and via hypnosis to release blockages. From there we can help to free the mind, body and spirit of the mental chat that holds them back and progress onto weekly goal setting focussed on future planning.

Emotional release weight loss program

Having spent many years working with clients who did not reach their goals however hard they worked, I learnt a lot about emotional blockages that permanently hindered progress. These blocks could have tiny triggers from childhood or larger triggers related to loss of loved ones, traumatic events and PTSD. This weight loss program tackles these obstacles to release these hidden barriers and support the client in reaching their desired weight.

Surrogacy hypnosis of pet

Another magical process of treating your pets with hypnosis using you as a surrogate. Focuses on traumatic events that they may have experienced that unsettled them.
