Schuessler tissue salts, also known as Biochemic Cell Salts or Cell Salts, are a form of homeopathic medicine that was developed by a German physician named Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler in the late 19th century. Schuessler believed that many health problems could be attributed to imbalances or deficiencies of certain minerals within the body's cells.

An important part of his research into these salts involved the analysis of human ashes to ascertain the role of minerals in human health. According to his theory, imbalances or deficiencies of certain minerals in the body's cells could lead to a wide range of health problems.

To obtain the ashes, Schuessler would take small samples of tissue from the body, such as hair, nails, or teeth, and burn them in a laboratory furnace. The resulting ashes were then analyzed using various chemical and spectroscopic techniques to identify the minerals present that were vital to human health.

Schuessler believed that by analyzing the mineral content of human tissue, he could identify which minerals were essential for the body's cells and which ones were not. He used this information to develop his system of tissue salts, which he believed could restore mineral balance to the cells and promote health.

While Schuessler's methods were innovative for his time, these days blood or urine samples are analysed.

There are twelve different tissue salts, each corresponding to a specific mineral, including calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and iron. These minerals are prepared in a highly diluted form and then mixed with lactose or sucrose to form tablets.

According to the principles of homeopathy, tissue salts are thought to stimulate the body's natural healing processes by restoring balance and harmony to the cells. They are commonly used to treat a variety of minor ailments such as headaches, indigestion, fatigue, and skin conditions, as well as to support overall health and wellbeing.
