HEALING FROM WITHIN: FINDING THE RIGHT PATH AT THE RIGHT TIME
Share
Healing is a deeply personal journey, and no two paths are ever quite the same. What works for one person might not resonate with another, and that’s perfectly okay. The most important thing to remember is that healing comes from within, and as powerful as a therapist may be, they are simply facilitators in your healing journey. It’s not about finding someone to “fix” you, but about discovering the right modality and timing that align with your readiness to heal.
Understanding Readiness in the Healing Process
The effectiveness of any healing modality often comes down to one simple question:
“Are you truly ready to heal?”
It took me a long time to understand that healing is not something that just happens to you; it requires active participation and openness. When I was still lost in my trauma, I wasn’t prepared to embrace the changes I needed. Brain retraining techniques, for example, were suggested to me decades before I was able to appreciate their value. At the time, I wasn’t emotionally ready, and my mind wasn’t open to change and the whole concept was overwhelming.
It’s not uncommon to feel that a particular therapy isn’t working, or even that it has had a negative effect. Sometimes, this isn’t because the therapy itself is flawed, but because we’re not in a place where we can receive its benefits. When our emotional state is entangled with unresolved trauma, the mind may not yet be ready to accept new patterns or let go of old ones. But even if a therapy doesn’t seem helpful in the moment, trust that the information or experiences gained will find a place in your healing journey when the time is right.
The Role of Timing and Trust
Healing is not linear, and timing is everything. A therapy that didn’t resonate with you years ago may suddenly feel like the key to unlocking a deeper level of healing. For me, craniosacral therapy and hypnotherapy were the modalities that shifted my mindset toward true healing. When I finally felt ready, these techniques allowed me to tap into my body’s wisdom and facilitate change from within. I wasn’t passively receiving treatment; I was actively involved in my healing process, becoming aware of the subtle shifts and embracing the new possibilities that emerged.
It’s important to trust that the right therapy will resonate when the time is right. Just because something doesn’t feel helpful now doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future. Sometimes, we simply need to wait until our minds and bodies are ready to let go and heal.
Choosing the Right Therapy and Practitioner
The search for the right healing approach can feel overwhelming. There are countless modalities, each with its own philosophy and techniques. But rather than seeing this as a daunting task, approach it as an exploration. Allow yourself the freedom to try different therapies and practitioners, always checking in with what feels right for you. It’s not about finding the “perfect” therapy; it’s about finding what resonates with your current needs and where you are in your healing journey. Learning to trust yourself and your instincts are crucial steps in healing.
At NEKAWA, I use craniosacral therapy and hypnotherapy, on their own or combined in a program or coaching, because these were the methods that truly helped me shift my mindset when I was ready to heal. Craniosacral therapy, with its gentle, non-invasive approach, allows the body to release tension and restore balance. It works with the body’s own rhythms, which can help unlock stored trauma without overwhelming the nervous system. Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, engages the subconscious mind, facilitating profound changes in thought patterns and beliefs. Together, these techniques create a powerful combination for anyone ready to embrace healing from within.
Empowerment Through Self-Healing
The most empowering aspect of healing is realising that you are the active agent in your own recovery. Therapies can guide and support you, but true healing is something you create from the inside out. This means embracing your own capacity for change and taking responsibility for your health and wellbeing.
Be patient with yourself. Healing is not always a straightforward path, and there may be times when you feel like you’re taking two steps forward and one step back. That’s part of the process. When you see therapy as a way of tapping into your own healing potential, rather than expecting someone else to provide the answers, you unlock the true power of self-healing.
Conclusion: The Journey is Yours
There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to healing, and it’s okay to change paths if you need to. The most important thing is to be open and ready to heal when the time is right for you. Whether you’re drawn to craniosacral therapy, hypnotherapy, or another modality entirely, trust your intuition and give yourself permission to explore. Find the person to help facilitate you on your healing journey and trust the process.
